here we go again

OK, although Dawn has been out of town for a while now, Rob and Jamie felt like playing some more music and were fortunate enough to meet banjo-picking-songwriter David Sawtelle to make this a trio again. We’re playing our first event — a small charity fundraiser — this afternoon in Austin. More shows to follow, we hope, and it’ll all get posted here on the website… If you’d like to get on the mailing list, just leave a comment on this post that says “add,” and be sure to include your email address. It won’t be published and we promise not to misuse it; really, we hate spam as much as you do. Thanks — we hope to see you around sometime!

Dawn’s departure

Jamie and I are sad to break the otherwise happy news that Dawn is off to live abroad for a while with her darling husband Chris. We’re thrilled for them, of course, to have the opportunity to have this grand adventure together, but DANG, is it ever hard to find a cellist who can rip through fiddle tunes like Dawn can :^)

And although we’ve not been playing too much in public for quite a while now, this is a project very near and dear to our hearts, so there is still music to be made. We may enlist a friend or two to help round things out, and possibly make a duo appearance or two.

So, farewell for now, Dawn and Chris; all best to both of you in every minute you’re away. Both Jamie and I are eagerly looking forward to the day we can next sit down, tune up, and count off that first song.

we’re baaaaaaack

OK, we’ve had a pretty long layoff—travel, work, and family stuff has kept all of us hopping. But it’s time to get this ball rolling again! We’ve got new shows coming up and new tracks to share with you.

First off, we’ve got a two-set gig coming up this Saturday, March 4, at Artz Rib House. More details on the schedule page.

Our friend and founding member from Ptarmigan, Gordon Starrett, has been under the weather lately. This man is responsible for most of the music I now play and I just want to send some good vibes his way. Gordon knows more songs than god and I just can’t imagine a Wednesday night without him at Waterloo. If you know him, now would be a good time to pay him a visit, and if not, then just send a kind thought out there for someone who has touched so many lives through his joy of music.
